Red Palm Oil Benefits for the Body
Red palm oil has become interesting to researchers recently because of its potential benefits to heart health. It’s also become interesting to those who use herbal supplements for that reason and for many others. Red palm oil could have some significant health benefits that need further research but, already, it’s known to have several that should make it interesting to those who want to pursue a healthier diet and lifestyle.
Red Palm Oil Contains Nutrients
Red palm oil is known to contain high levels of vitamins A and E. Both of these have very real benefits to the body.
Vitamin A deficiency is a major issue in developing nations. Cooking with red palm oil is an easy way to make up for this and, even in developed nation, doing so can help people who might not be getting enough of this nutrient in their diet otherwise.
Vitamin E is known to have benefits for the skin and that can improve appearance. Those benefits will likely seem to pale in comparison to the heart benefits.
The Heart of the Matter
Red palm oil, if you just look at its makeup, may not initially seem to be good for your heart. After all, it contains 50% saturated fat. However, it hasn’t been shown to promote hardening of the arteries or other heart problems. Some research indicates that this may be related to the fact that the antioxidant content is so high and the ration of saturated to unsaturated fat is favorable.
In fact, there seems to be a connection between red palm oil and a reduction in the risk of hardening of the arteries and arterial thrombosis. Red palm oil in moderate doses has been shown to help the body use nutrients more efficiently and to reduce blood pressure.
Of course, it’s a cooking oil, so it also lends flavor to food, which has the benefit of making staying healthy a lot easier!
Does it Burn Fat
This is one of the most intriguing potentials of red palm oil. It could help to burn belly fat, which is notoriously stubborn to shed and which is known to be a partially dangerous type of fat to have built up on the body.
The antioxidant content could have antiaging benefits, as well, which need further research but which show a great deal of promise. Coconut oil might be getting all the attention right now, but red palm oil certainly has a lot of benefits, as well.
